About The Feedback

Feedback is a structured conversation to make you better.

It happens when someone pays attention to how you work or behave and tells you what they see, and they do it because they want you to change in a positive way.

Sometimes it’s a correction, said early enough that changing course is still easy. Other times it points to something nobody had noticed yet, like a strength the person didn’t know they had, or a habit that’s been quietly getting in the way.

Either way, it brings a perspective a person can’t get alone. A vague “I could be better at this” becomes something specific to work on.

You’ve been getting feedback your whole life, at work and in plenty of other situations. Some of it is hard to hear, but every piece of it gives you something new to grow from.

That’s what we want this blog to do for you and your team. It’s also why we called it The Feedback.

What you’ll find here

This is where we go into detail on everything we work with at Skill Deck.

The 8 categories come first, from Leadership to Flexibility. Each one groups the Skills that belong together, and its page explains why the category matters and what it changes in the way people work.

Inside them are 58 Skills, each with a page of its own. That page covers what the Skill is and why the job market values it, and it gives you ways to start using it right away.

Then come the Practices, the most direct way to start developing a Skill. A Practice is a named behavior or tool, something concrete you can try in your next meeting. We’ll show you how to use them.

All of it is written to help you put feedback on your team’s agenda. Pick one Skill before your next one-on-one. You’ll walk in with something specific to talk about.

What Skill Deck does

Skill Deck puts feedback to work. It finds the evidence in the meetings your team already has, and shows each person where they stand on each Skill and which Practice to work on next. Every feedback conversation can then start from real work.
